Hypnosis for focus and performance.
You've prepared, you know you can do it, and still you freeze the moment it counts. In an exam, a game, a presentation or a job interview. With hypnosis, you work on the tension that's getting in your way, so you can show what you already have in you.

“At home I can do it perfectly, but when it really matters, my mind suddenly goes blank.”
Many people who come to me know perfectly well what they're capable of. They've studied, practiced and trained. But right before the moment itself, their heart starts racing, their hands get clammy and their head fills up with everything that could go wrong. It looks like fear of failure, and often that's exactly what it is. It costs you the very focus you need.
Maybe you recognize it from your exams. Maybe from your sports team, where you play better in practice than in the game. Or from meetings, where you stay quiet even though you do have something to say. The good news: this pattern was learned at some point, which means you can change it.
Trying harder doesn't help.
Under pressure, your nervous system switches into fight or flight. That's useful when you need to run away, but not when you need to solve a math problem, hit a ball or speak to a room full of people. Your muscles tense up, your breathing gets shallow and it's harder to reach what you know. The harder you try to stay calm, the more you notice everything that isn't going well.
You perform better from a place of relaxation. That sounds contradictory, because tension feels like sharpness. But real focus only shows up once your body knows it's safe. In hypnosis, you work on that level: not with your rational mind, but with the automatic reactions underneath it.
What I can help you with.
Performance pressure looks different for everyone. These are situations where hypnosis can help you get back in touch with what you're capable of.
Exams and tests
You've studied, but once the exam starts it's as if everything is gone. Or you sleep badly the nights before and start the day already tired. Hypnosis for exams helps you sit down calmly, reach what you know and keep your attention on the question, instead of on the clock or the room.
Sports and competition
In practice it comes naturally, in the game you tense up. Fear of failure in sports is often tied to one missed moment that keeps replaying in your head. We work on the tension before and during the game, so your body can once again do what it has known how to do for a long time.
Presentations and performances
Public speaking makes a lot of people nervous. In front of a small team or a packed room, at work or at a wedding, as a musician or as a speaker. You learn to let the tension settle, so your voice stays calm and your thoughts stay clear, even with all eyes on you.
Job interviews
You really want that job, and that's exactly why you're wound so tight. You talk too fast, forget what you wanted to say or make yourself smaller than you are. In hypnosis, you prepare for the interview from a place of calm, so you can show who you are and what you can do.
Sales conversations
An important meeting with a client or a negotiation with a lot riding on it. You want to be sharp, not tense. I help you walk into a conversation like that with a clear head. Looking for this for your team or organization? Take a look at the Executive Clarity Session.
After a setback
Sometimes there was one moment after which things stopped working: an exam you failed, an injury, a presentation that went wrong. Since then you do everything with the brakes on. That kind of block is also something we can explore in hypnosis, so you can play, speak or write freely again.
Calm and clarity, and the rest follows.
People sometimes ask me if I can make them perform better. My answer is simple. I give people the calm and clarity to hit their targets. Why does that work? Because then they're doing it from a place of relaxation. You usually already have the knowledge, the training and the experience. What's often missing is the room in your head to actually reach it.
I saw this up close for years, as the right hand of a director in an organization of 250 people. During my training I gave sessions there: in the morning for focus, in the afternoon to let go of stress. People who have to deliver under pressure don't need another pep talk. They need a nervous system that works with them.
No fixed script, but a clear goal.
I work with Ericksonian, conversational hypnosis. That means no fixed script and no protocol, but a conversation I tailor to you and to the moment you're working toward. I've learned a wide range of techniques and use them with intention, depending on what you need. Every person already has a lot of inner resources, like the moments when you did succeed. Those are unconscious and not always easy to reach. That's where I help you, through the connection between us.
From the first conversation to the big moment.

Why tension blocks your performance.
Everything you do has to do with your nervous system. When your body senses danger, all your energy goes to survival. Your heart rate goes up, your muscles tense and your attention narrows to the threat. For an exam or a game, that means you mostly see what could go wrong. Your movements get stiffer, it's harder to reach what you know and you start doubting things you'd normally do without thinking. That isn't weakness. It's an old, smart system kicking in at the wrong moment.
Fear of failure often starts at a moment you barely remember anymore. Someone who laughed when you had to read out loud, a coach who was harsh after a lost game, a presentation that once went wrong. Your subconscious remembers a moment like that and tries to protect you afterward, by creating tension whenever a situation looks similar. Rationally, you know it's different now. But your subconscious hasn't gotten the message yet.
In hypnosis, you're deeply relaxed and very focused at the same time. You may know that state from athletes who are completely absorbed in their game, or from moments when you're so into your work that time disappears. From that state, you can reach the resources you already have: the confidence of a good practice, the calm of a conversation that went well, the focus of a day when everything flowed. In hypnosis, you can connect those experiences to the moment you're dreading.
It isn't a formula. I can't give you a guarantee, and I won't promise that you'll pass or win. Whether you pass an exam also depends on how well you studied, and you can lose a game to a better opponent. What can change is that you no longer have to fight yourself. You go into the moment with a calm body and a clear head, and then everything you can already do gets room to show.
What hypnosis is and isn't.
I'm not a medical professional and I don't cure anything. Hypnosis is a complement to, never a replacement for, your doctor or psychologist. Before we start, I'll send you a short questionnaire, including questions about any medication you take. Is there something deeper going on medically, for example because you're already in treatment? Then I'll ask for a referral letter from your doctor, so we can work with care.
Are you an athlete already working with a coach or trainer? Or are you getting help with test anxiety at school or during your studies? Hypnosis fits well alongside that. I work on your goal and I'm happy to align with whatever is already in place.
Online, wherever you are.
I'm based in the Netherlands and work mostly online, with people all over the world, in English or Dutch. All you need is a quiet place and a pair of headphones. That makes it easy to plan sessions around your studies, your training or your work, wherever you live.
Prefer to meet in person? That can be arranged. I'm not strict about it: in the intro call, we'll decide together what works best for you.
Questions about hypnosis and performance.
Does hypnosis work for test anxiety?
Hypnosis can help you go into an exam or test more calmly. We work on the tension that's blocking you, so you can reach what you know more easily. You still do the studying yourself: hypnosis doesn't replace your preparation. What it does is make sure you can actually use that preparation in the moment.
How do I get over fear of failure in sports?
Not by wanting it even more, but by working on how your body reacts. Fear of failure in sports is often tied to an earlier moment, like an injury or a game that went wrong. In hypnosis, we revisit that moment and give you a new response to it. That way you can do in the game what you already do in practice.
Can hypnosis help with public speaking?
Yes, nerves before a presentation or performance are something I work with a lot. You learn how your body can stay calm while people are watching you. The goal isn't to never feel anything again. A little tension is fine, as long as it doesn't block you.
How many sessions will I need?
Usually the focused program with three sessions is enough, even if you've dealt with fear of failure or performance anxiety for years. If there's something heavier underneath, like an experience that still affects you or a stubborn pattern, the in-depth program with six sessions is a better fit. We'll talk about that in the intro call.
How long before my exam or game should I start?
Ideally six weeks ahead. That leaves room for three sessions, and you'll already notice the difference in your daily life before the moment arrives. Is your exam or game coming up very soon? Get in touch anyway. We'll look together at what's possible in the time there is.
Can I try one session first?
Yes. A single session takes about 60 minutes. That way you'll find out how hypnosis feels and whether it's right for you. For lasting change, I usually recommend the program with three sessions and support in between.
Will I lose control during hypnosis?
No. You're deeply relaxed and focused, but fully aware the whole time. You hear everything, you decide what you share and you can stop at any moment. Hypnosis isn't a show, and you won't do anything you don't want to do.
Can hypnosis also help me at work?
Yes. Think of a job interview, an important sales conversation or a presentation for senior leadership. For yourself, you can simply follow a program. Looking for something for your team or organization? Then I work with the Executive Clarity Session.
Do you guarantee that I'll pass or win?
No, and I'm honest about that. Hypnosis isn't a trick that always turns out the same way. What you can expect is that you go into the moment with more calm and clarity. How it turns out also depends on your preparation and on everything outside of your control.
